Literacy homework consists of 2 pages:
1. Reading Log -- students should be reading EVERY NIGHT! Each day is assigned a different task to complete that coincides with the reading they did for that day. The reading log has an explanation of each day's task on the back of the paper.
2. Spelling -- Students have a spelling choice menu. They may complete ONE activity with all 20 spelling words for the week, or split it into TWO spelling activities with 10 words each. More spelling practice may be done at home if more practice with the words is needed.
Homework is handed out on Monday in Literacy, and (BOTH the Reading Log and Spelling practice) is due every Friday unless otherwise posted.
Students have a leveled fluency passage that they do a timed reading in class each week. This page is then sent home for additional practice. While it is not part of the required homework, there IS a fluency assignment for Thursday's Reading Log task. If students practice the fluency page and get it signed by a parent, and bring it back to class and show me, I will award them class dollars.
